Read on to find out why farmers markets, food bloggers, and famous chefs are fawning over these nutritional powerhouses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Microgreens<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>What are they?<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microgreens are essentially small edible plants (lettuce, kale, arugula, daikon, radish, etc.) that have been harvested before reaching full maturity. Some are less than 14 days old!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>Why are they good for us?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These little guys are jam-packed with nutrients &#8211; they\u2019re even rumoured to pack more nutrients than their adult counterparts! <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thesalt\/2012\/08\/29\/160274163\/introducing-microgreens-younger-and-maybe-more-nutritious-vegetables\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A researcher with the US Department of Agriculture<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found that \u201calmost all of the microgreens [in the study] had 4-6 times more nutrients than the mature leaves of the same plant\u201d (NPR). While the specific nutrients vary between each plant, some health benefits include boosts of vitamin E, C, and zinc, for example. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>How do you eat them?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only are microgreens nutritional powerhouses, but they add a fresh flavour punch too! Some ways to incorporate them into your diet include: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Salads<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Sprinkle them into your salad for added crunch and flavour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Sandwiches.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Less overpowering than lettuce, these little guys fit into sandwiches perfectly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Pizza. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These crisp up nicely, and add extra nutrients to your cheesy goodness. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Soups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Visually and nutritionally, these take your soup to the next level. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>So, are they worth it?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ultimately that\u2019s up to you, but if you like extra health benefits, added flavour, and aesthetically pleasing meals, then we think you know the answer. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>Where to find them:<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At some of our stores, we have our microgreens delivered by bike every Tuesday and Friday! We also top many of our favourite dishes with them, like our infamous Avocado Smash.
