In reality, it\u2019s actually very simple! After discovering and tweaking this recipe to make it my own, I can easily whip up some fuego tacos in under 40 minutes. They\u2019re the perfect savoury, protein-packed addition to your Middle Eastern-inspired meal, Mediterranean themed dinner, or atop your fresh salad with a creamy tahini dressing. <\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b>Easy Homemade Falafel Recipe<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This recipe makes about 12 falafels. Total prep and cook time takes about 35 minutes. <\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 can of chickpeas (425g)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd onion (finely chopped)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 cloves garlic (minced)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2153 cup cilantro (finely chopped)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 tbsp sesame seeds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd tsp salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd tsp black pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bc tsp dried chili flakes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bc tsp coriander powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 \u00bd tsp cumin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3-4 tbsp flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3-4 tbsp high heat oil (like avocado oil)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><b>Instructions:<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drain chickpeas and rinse.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add to a food processor with the chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, sesame seeds, and the remaining spices. Add everything EXCEPT the flour and oil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add flour 1 tbsp at a time and pulse to combine. Keep adding flour until no longer wet and you can easily roll it into a ball without being uber sticky.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taste the mix and adjust seasonings if necessary. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roll into tbsp size balls and transfer to a baking sheet. Place baking sheet in the freezer for about 20 minutes. This will help them keep their shape. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once cooled, flatten them lightly with a spoon. Then heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to generously coat the pan. Once hot, add as many falafels as it takes to fill the pan comfortably.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fry the falafels for about 4-5 minutes, until they\u2019re brown and crispy on each side. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once all cooked, place on a plate with paper towel and dab all excess oil off. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serve warm with hummus or on a bed of greens.
