For almost all of us Canadians, we\u2019re vitamin D deprived (aka \u201chappiness\u201d vitamin deprived). Personally, seasonal affective \u201cdisorder\u201d really impacts me, so I\u2019ve prioritized some habits to ensure I stay motivated during these darker months. Here\u2019s what works for me. <\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Ways to Stay Motivated During the Winter<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Exercise<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. So cliche, but it really does help! I have to exercise to stay sane, even if I don\u2019t want to. During winter months, I like doing indoor activities like hot yoga or going to the gym, but if I have the proper attire, I\u2019ll go snowshoeing, skiing, for walks, or running too. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.spud.com\/blog-exercise-at-work\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can even stay active in the workplace.<\/span><\/a> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just do it.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Nike.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Get enough sleep<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. I cannot stress how important enough sleep is. I rave about it all the time. Check out <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">my top 5 sleep tips<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for proof.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Stay social!<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It\u2019s easy to want to hole up in your house watching Netflix (at least it\u2019s easy for me). While Netflix is a great, great thing, to stay motivated during colder months, try seeing your loved ones every once in awhile. Whether that\u2019s coordinating a book club, going for a drink, or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.spud.com\/blog-salad-club\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">starting a salad club with your work friends<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, be sure to see your pals every so often.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Eat well.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I\u2019m uber-hungry during winter months. That\u2019s not a problem if I\u2019m eating foods that fuel my body, but sometimes I\u2019ll resort to fast food or a gargantuan bowl of popcorn for dinner (secretly no regrets though). If you want easy, healthy meals and reeeally don\u2019t feel like cooking, order our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spud.ca\/catalogue\/catalogue.cfm?op=S2&amp;S=1&amp;W=1&amp;sterm=Ready%20to%20Eat%20Dinner%20for%204%20(6)&amp;S_CG=255&amp;S_OP=-2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dinner for 4 meals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. No prep necessary, and there\u2019s enough food for you and the whole family. Plus they\u2019re freakin\u2019 delicious.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Self-care.<\/strong><b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a lot of talk about self-care in the media these days. You probably hear about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.spud.com\/blog-detox-bath\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">having a bath<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or doing a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.spud.com\/blog-diy-face-masks\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">face mask<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While these are awesome, there are tons of other self-care methods out there! Whether that\u2019s making a meal, baking, reading, going to a museum, biking, listening to music, crafting &#8211; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">whatever. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do what you enjoy. If you don\u2019t like baths &#8211; no problem (some people don\u2019t like soaking in their filth) &#8211; just make sure to prioritize it! If you\u2019re stuck for self-care ideas, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.spud.com\/blog-self-care\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here are some other tips<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Book an excursion.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This doesn\u2019t have to be big (we\u2019re not all made of money here). Just plan a trip or maybe some little events to break up the winter. Whether that\u2019s a camping trip, a vacation to a warm climate, a weekend getaway, or even training for an organized sports race, plan something that excites you. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are favourite tips. I also sometimes use a \u201chappy light\u201d (although I\u2019m still skeptical on this one) and other tricks too, but the ones above are my more successful habits. Hopefully they work for you too!
